Healthy Eating Day

A healthy nutrition can reduce the risk of many diseases, from cardiovascular diseases to diabetes. It is not just a matter of eating lots of vegetables and drinking less alcohol - healthy eating has many facets. One important component is the conscious use of sugar. Especially with processed foods, we often fall into hidden sugar traps.

Today, on 7 March 2021, we celebrate Healthy Eating Day for the 24th time. With this day of action, the German Association for Nutrition and Dietetics aims to encourage people to integrate healthy nutrition into their everyday lives. The theme of this year's day of action is "Diabetes mellitus".

Diabetes mellitus is one of the major common diseases worldwide. Today we want to draw attention to the causes, the different types of diabetes and the therapy options, especially nutrition therapy.

The German Diabetes Foundation informs the population of the risks so that type 2 diabetes, in particular, does not occur at all or will be significantly delayed. Among other things, they give 11 tips for prevention because there is a solution for diabetes. A health-conscious lifestyle can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Diet, exercise habits and the way we deal with stress often play a decisive role in whether we develop type 2 diabetes or not. A change in lifestyle is certainly not easy, as many habits have become ingrained over the years. But scientific findings show that a lifestyle change is very much worthwhile. Even in the case of type 2 diabetes at an early stage, the disease can be successfully reduced.
