ß-Hydroxybutyrate

ß-Hydroxybutyrate (β-HBUT) belongs to the group of ketone bodies, serving as energy supplier in insulin deficiency and resistance. Increased β-HBUT levels occur in metabolic acidosis related to diabetes, congenital metabolic diseases, alcoholism and fasting.

Reference Ranges

Fasting:0.02 – 0.27 mmol/L0.21 – 2.81 mg/dL
